BOEING ASSEMBLY LINE FILLS WITH NEXT-GENERATION 737-800s
The Boeing Next-Generation 737 family continues to grow as the
first three 737-800 twinjets take shape in the Boeing Commercial Airplane
Group Renton, Wash., manufacturing facility. Early next month, the first
737-800 (shown with banner) will join the four 737-700s already in flight
test. The third member of the Next-Generation 737 family, the 737-600, will
also have three airplanes join the flight-test program beginning early next
year. Launched by German carrier Hapag-Lloyd, the 737-800 is a stretched
version of the current 737-400 and is capable of carrying 160 to 189 passengers.
The 737-700 will carry 128 to 149 passengers, and the 737-600 will carry
108 to 132 passengers. All will offer improved performance while maintaining
the reliability and dependability that have made the 737 the worldís
best-selling commercial jetliner.
