CFMI INTERNATIONAL POWERS BOEING 737s AND FRENCH ECONOMY
Boeing Commercial Airplane Group employees install a new CFM56-7B
engine on the first Boeing 737-700, opening a new chapter in one of commercial
aviationís most successful partnerships. The engine is produced by
CFMI International -- a joint venture of GE of the U.S. and Snecma of France.
The "-7B" is the newest derivative of the CFM56 family, which
has powered all new 737s since the launch of the 737-300 in 1981. During
that period, CFM56 engines built for Boeing airplanes (including 707 military
platforms) have generated more than 30% of total Snecma sales and thousands
of jobs in France. And with more than 535 announced orders for the Next-Generation
737-600/700/800 models, the Boeing/CFMI partnership looks to build on the
success of the current best-selling 737 program, producing steady revenue
and jobs on both sides of the Atlantic for years to come.
