Boeing First Showcased Products at Paris 40 Years Ago
While there are many international air shows on the Boeing calendar, the Paris Air Show has the distinction of being first -- first in size, first in importance, and the first in history. In 1957, Boeing made its initial appearance at Paris with the B-47, the very first swept-wing jet bomber, setting the design parameters for large jet aircraft to the present day. Boeing exhibits in subsequent years included the introduction of the 747 in 1969 and the appearance of the V-22 Osprey in 1995. The featured attractions of the Boeing contingent this year will be the Next-Generation 737-700 and a mockup of the Bell Boeing 609 civil tiltrotor. This year marks The Boeing Company's 20th consecutive appearance at the biennial Paris Air Show, with exhibits from major sectors of the company including commercial, defense, and space.
