Decked out in a dramatic red, white and blue paint scheme that reflects its proud past and exciting future, the fifth Boeing Next-Generation 737-700 airplane is off to the Paris Air Show.

737-700 in paint hangar

Shown here in the Boeing Seattle paint hangar, 737-700's distinctive paint scheme features an abstract globe near the tail section. Wavy red lines wrapping around the globe and the airplane's fuselage symbolize how this 21st Century jetliner has been embraced by airlines all over the world. Near the nose, the words, "Building on Success," pay homage to the 737 family's roots as the most popular jetliner in aviation history. Since the first 737-100 rolled out almost 30 years ago, nearly 3,600 of the popular twinjets have been ordered, making it the best-selling jetliner ever.

The Next-Generation 737-600/-700/-800 models build on the success of the current 737 models, while incorporating improvements designed for the 21st Century. The Next-Generation airplanes combine the reliability, commonality, simplicity and maintainability of the current 737s with the ability to fly higher, faster and farther than the current models.
