Re-engine of the KC-135E to KC-135R offers significant performance benefits in thrust, fuel capacity and consumption, offload, and noise compliance. Cockpit upgrades integrate the latest commercial technology avionics, while the multipoint refueling system provides flexibility to refuel probe and receptacle receiver aircraft on the same mission. Alternatively, or in addition, the KC-135 refueling boom technology has been strengthened and streamlined.
