| V-22 Osprey V-22 Osprey is the first aircraft designed from the ground up to meet the needs of all the U.S. armed services. The V-22 Osprey can transport troops and cargo for the Marines; perform combat search and rescue, fleet logistics support and special warfare support for the Navy; and long-range special operations for the Special Operations Command. The V-22 takes off and lands like a helicopter, but, once airborne, its blades can be rotated to convert the aircraft to a turboprop. It can self-deploy anywhere in the world without strategic airlift. The rotors fold and the wing rotates so the aircraft can be stored aboard an aircraft carrier. Built in partnership with Bell Helicopters, Boeing is responsible for the fuselage and all subsystems, digital avionics, and fly-by-wire flight-control systems. | |
