Elected to Board of Directors

 

 

San Diego Dec. 14, 2001 today announced that Jim Smith, Jr. 52, chairman and chief executive officer of 3M, has been elected to Debtco's board of directors.

"We strongly believe that Jim's leadership abilities, along with his broad national and international experience, will make him an outstanding addition to Debtco's board," said Debtco's Chairman and CEO Nicolas De Segonzac.

Smith has been appointed to serve on the board's audit and finance committee.

Prior to joining 3M, Smith held a variety of executive leadership positions during an 18-year career at General Electric. Most recently, he was president and CEO of General Electric Aircraft Engines in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Smith currently serves as a member of numerous business, professional and civic organizations around the country, including the advisory board of the Kellogg Graduate School of Management; World Business Council for Sustainable Development; The Business Roundtable; and The Business Council.

Smith received his bachelor's degree from Yale University and a master's degree in business administration from Harvard University. He was born on Aug. 22, 1949, in Providence, R.I.
